As you all know, I was a beta tester, so I purchased Magic Submitter after the release, and the current version is 1.8 (now 1.9). I ran through the account creation process and thought I would give a review. The interface is simple and straight forward. Everything is easy to access and there is a nice graphical user interface. There are several tabs and a drop down box of services.
Magic Submitter can create accounts at: article directories, bookmarking services, rss aggregators, blogs and video sites. It can also create email accounts at gmail and yahoo.co.uk. One of the nicest features of this program is that it has a designer mode that can be used to add any site’s sign up and submission procedures. This magic submitter review is focused on the initial account creation with the built in services.
I would like to point out that I did not create a free email account. I used a brand new email account created on one of my domains. Some Web 2.0 services do not let you sign up with a free email account, so I opted to use my own email account to give Magic Submitter the benefit of the doubt.
The first step is to create an account profile, which includes the typical name, email, user name, password, address, site name and url. You can also include your email server and password for email verification.
Most of the websites that Magic Submitter submits to require CAPTCHA verification to avoid spambots. You can either enter the CAPTCHA’s manually or use the 3rd party service decaptcher.com. I opted to use decaptcher.
There is an option to use 1 to 3 browser windows. I opted to use 3 browser windows since I have a fast computer and a broadband internet connection.
I signed up with all services. The whole process took approximately 3 hours. The “slowness” of the process was mainly due to a delay in CAPTCHA solving by decaptcher.com. You can either minimize the program as it performs the account creations, or watch what is happening in a browser window. When watching what was happening I could see that the CAPTCHA solving was very slow and sometimes decaptcher got it wrong. This would cause Magic Submitter to get lost. Clicking the “retry” button usually fixed the issue and allowed the account creation to proceed. There were times that Magic Submitter couldn’t find a reference text field. If this occurred I would manually input the required data and click a “complete” button, which tells Magic Submitter that the account creation is complete. Magic Submitter will then use your profile data to login to that account. See the end of the review for site specific issues.
When creating article and blog accounts it should be noted that the account creation procedures can be complex. Magic Submitter provides instructions at the top of the browser window informing the user of what needs to be done before continuing. An example of a common user required action is the website will send a unique password to the email account. The user must manually check the email account and retrieve the password and enter it manually into Magic Submitter for that account. Other user required actions may be that the user has to manually login to the account and perform additional account setup. These sites are minimal and well worth a little extra effort to have a more sites to choose from.
I was able to successfully sign up at approximately 98% of all sites in the 5 categories. I performed the user required actions on around 12 sites total. After all the registration is completed you must click “check emails”. Magic Submitter will then download all the emails and click all the verification links. In total, I successfully signed up for over 110 services. It must be noted the article directories are the top tier. Out of all the accounts over 30 were blogs, which is very powerful indeed.
In conclusion I must say - not too bad for a just released website promotion software. The next step is to try submitting content to all the accounts I just created. Stay tuned for more Magic Submitter Reviews.
As promised – site specific issues:
Article Directories:
- Buzzle - User is required to manually fill in Author Information.
- Article Alley - CAPTCHA was not showing. I confirmed that the image really wasn't showing by using a browser.
- Idea Marketers - Magic Submitter didn't choose the state or insert zip code. This has since been resolved.
- A1-Articles - CAPTCHA didn't show. I confirmed that it was a site problem and not a problem with Magic Submitter.
- Go Articles - Program didn't input city, state, country or password.
Bookmarking Services:
- Bibsonomy - Magic Submitter didn't input homepage URL. This is in the profile, but Bibsonomy doesn't require it for account creation.
- Blinklist - Program couldn't find gender check box. There was no gender checkbox. This has since been corrected.
- Sitesays - This site has been down for the past week!
Blogs:
- Blogger - Magic Submitter doesn't put in the birthday. If you do this manually it is successful.
- Multiply - You have to enter CAPTCHA manually even if you are using decaptcher.com.
- Jimdo - They send you a unique password in an email that you must retrieve and put into Magic Submitter.
- On Sugar - The program says to "enter math question", but it is actually a CAPTCHA.
- Blogetery - They send an email that must be clicked on, then they send another email with a unique password.
- Nexo - Site will be discontinued.
- Zoomshare - Magic Submitter says to manually open confirmation email and finish site selection.
- Diaryland - They email you a unique password.
RSS:
- IceRocket - Magic Submitter couldn't locate "mshtml.HTMLInputElement Class Form"
Video:
- Google - Requires cellphone number to complete registration.
- Bolt - User must answer a question such as, "what is the opposite of up?" in addition to entering a CAPTCHA.
- Daily Motion - User must manually enter CAPTCHA text.
- Zoopy - User must enter a math question.
- Vidivodo - Magic Submitter couldn't locate reg. link.
- Photobucket - The program got stuck on filling the form.
That's pretty much it. I will be submitting a review on submitting spun content within the next couple days. Keep checking back because I will be including some video tutorials!
